My question is, what is similar to PD3? And if there is something similar, can I try it on a trial basis? I'm just a beginner to DSLR, I'm hoping to get into RAW photo creation and then I will need software to deal with that. It seems to be very limited on JPEG files, or maybe I'm still in the dumb stage of using it. I just recently purchased my first SLT, a Sony A57, it came with editing software, Image Data Converter. Over the years I have downloaded free photo editing programs or tried free programs that come with various cameras, but I've never found one I like as well as PD3. Occasionally I create a collage, or a poster with text.

Why do I like PD3 so much? I don't do a lot of editing of photos to change their quality or be creative. My worry is that some day my computer will croak and I will be forced into the Windows future and my precious PD3 probably won't work on the new computer.
